Property insurance protects your home, apartment, and personal belongings from risks that could lead to significant financial losses. With rising property values and the increasing number of household incidents, homeowners increasingly consider insurance policies as a way to protect their investments. In Uzbekistan, such programs are available as voluntary insurance: the client receives a document outlining the covered risks, compensation amounts, and procedures for dealing with the insurer. The policy helps compensate for damages following fires, floods, burglaries or natural disasters, making it relevant for both urban and suburban property owners. To appreciate the benefits of property insurance, it is important to understand what is actually covered and what is required to receive compensation.
Home insurance in Uzbekistan is based on the principles of protecting against the most probable and significant risks. The provides compensation for damage resulting from certain documented events. The terms are based on a contract or public offer, [SA1] including a detailed description of risks, the parties’ responsibilities, and the procedures for filing a claim. For most clients, the key factor is not only the insured amount but also, ultimately, a transparent and understandable payment procedure. For this reason, insurers provide clear requirements for documents, the actions the property owner must take, and deadlines for reporting. This facilitates the regulating process and reduces the likelihood of disputes.
The contract is concluded at the company's office. The insured amount is determined based on the market value of the property at the time of the conclusion of the insurance contract. The premium is calculated individually and can be paid in a lump sum. The policy starts from the date specified in the contract (usually the day after payment).
If an accident occurs, you must notify the relevant authorities (MOE, MIA, emergency services) within 24 hours and notify the insurer within 5 business days (via the hotline, through the website, or in person). Until an expert inspects the damaged property, it should be preserved in the same condition it was in after the accident (if safe to do so). You must provide a statement, policy, property papers, certificates from state bodies and photos/videos of the damage.
The insurance company will inspect and assess the damage within 15 business days. Payment will be made within 10 banking days after signing the act on insurance event in the amount of the actual damage, but no more than the insured amount. Compensation can be made with or without depreciation (if the appropriate rate is selected). In case of a total loss of property, the insured amount is paid minus the value of any remaining usable items.
