Comprehensive protection for your car: what KASKO covers in Uzbekistan

23.02.2026

In the face of rapid growth of the fleet and heavy traffic in Uzbekistan, the issue of vehicle protection goes beyond the formal insurance minimum. Even a minor accident can entail expenses equivalent to several monthly family incomes, especially for new or vehicles purchased on credit. The risks are aggravated by external factors: densely populated areas, weather conditions, heavy strain on urban infrastructure and human factors.

The voluntary KASKO insurance is considered a comprehensive financial protection tool, allowing the insurance company to shoulder the consequences of most unforeseen situations. Unlike mandatory insurance, KASKO is focused not on protecting third parties, but on preserving the property interests of the vehicle owner. This fundamental difference forms a wider range of insured events and more flexible compensation terms.

What KASKO Is and Its Role in the Car Insurance System

KASKO is a voluntary type of insurance that covers damage caused to the policyholder's vehicle. The policy is valid regardless of whether the driver is found at fault for the accident and covers a wide range of risks not covered by the compulsory motor insurance (CCLIVO). Thus, KASKO complements the compulsory motor insurance, creating a comprehensive system of car protection.

An important feature of KASKO is its focus on compensating actual damage to the vehicle owner.

This means the insurance company assumes responsibility for restoration, repair or payment of insurance compensation in the event of loss of the vehicle. This allows the owner to anticipate potential expenses in advance and avoid large one–time costs in case of an insured event.

Furthermore, KASKO terms can be adapted to the specific needs of the car owner. Both basic and extended plans, varying in coverage, payout limits and list of additional services, are available on the market. This approach makes KASKO a versatile tool for both individuals and corporate fleets.

Main insurance risks included in KASKO coverage

The standard KASKO programs in Uzbekistan are formed to cover the most common and financially significant risks associated with the use of the vehicle. The list of insured events may vary depending on the plan, but the basic coverage is similar across most insurance companies.

The extensive list of risks makes KASKO a universal vehicle protection mechanism against most external threats. At the same time, the scope of cover can be expanded or reduced depending on the chosen plan and contract terms.

What a standard KASKO policy covers:

  • Road traffic accidents. The policy covers vehicle damage resulting from collisions, impacts, rollovers or other accidents, regardless of whether the driver is found at fault;
  •
  • Unlawful actions of third parties. Damage resulting from vandalism, intentional property damage and theft of individual vehicle components, including mirrors, headlights and other parts, is covered;
  •
  • Theft. In case of a total loss of the vehicle, the insurance company pays compensation up to the insured amount, which is especially important for new and expensive vehicles;
  •
  • Fire and explosion. Damage caused by vehicle fire, explosion, including those related to gas equipment and exposure to external fire sources is covered;
  •
  • Natural disasters and phenomena. The policy covers damage caused by hail, floods, hurricanes, earthquakes, and other natural factors;
  •
  • Falling foreign objects and animal impacts. Damage caused by falling trees, building structures, objects from height and collisions with animals is compensated.

After an insured event, the vehicle owner has the opportunity to restore their vehicle quickly without using personal savings or borrowing money. In addition to direct compensation for damage many insurance companies in Uzbekistan offer the extended KASKO packages. The extended options are often included in mid–range and premium plans, but some insurance firms offer a modular approach to policy formation. In this situation, the vehicle owner is able to select only the services which are necessary indeed, optimizing insurance costs.

Coverage exclusions and limitations

Despite its broad scope of coverage, KASKO does not provide unconditional coverage for all possible situations. The insurance agreement contains a list of exclusions under which the insurance company has the right to refuse payment. Understanding these conditions is essential when choosing a policy.

  • Driving in a state of intoxication. Alcohol, drugs or other intoxicants are grounds for refusal of compensation;
  •
  • Lack of legal grounds for driving. Driving without a valid or revoked driver's license;
  •
  • Gross traffic violations. Including  running a red light, significantly exceeding the speed limit and other actions directly specified in the contract;
  •
  • Intentional actions of the policyholder. Intentional damage to the vehicle or staging of an insured event;
  •
  • Misuse of vehicle. Using the vehicle as a taxi, participating in competitions or engaging in commercial activities without appropriate indication in the policy.

These restrictions are intended to reduce insurance risks and prevent abuse. Therefore, before signing the contract it is recommended to review the insurance terms and conditions carefully, including sections regarding exclusions and policyholder responsibilities.

Understanding these limitations helps avoid disputes during insurance claims and assess the true scope of coverage in advance. In most cases, denial of payment is not due to the incident itself, but to a breach of contract terms.

KASKO cost and pricing factors

The price of the KASKO policy in Uzbekistan is based on a combination of factors, reflecting both the vehicle's value and the level of insured risks. On average, the annual premium ranges from 1.2 to 1.5 percent of the vehicle's market value, but this figure may vary depending on the insurance terms.

  • Market value and age of the vehicle. The higher the price and newness of the vehicle, the higher the insurer's potential costs;
  •
  • Brand and model. The cost of parts and repairs directly affects the rate;
  •
  • Driver’s experience and history. Previous insurance claims may increase the cost of the policy;
  •
  • Selected list of risks. Extended coverage and additional services increase the cost of insurance;
  •
  • Presence or absence of a deductible. A deductible reduces the cost of the policy but increases the policyholder's share of expenses in case of an insured event.

For a car owner, KASKO transforms potentially unpredictable expenses into a fixed annual payment. This is especially important for family or business budget planning, as it allows the person to take into account the cost of protection in advance without the risk of sudden large expenses.

The voluntary insurance is not mandatory, but in some cases, its economic feasibility is clear. KASKO is especially relevant for new cars, vehicles purchased on credit, and vehicles with high repair costs. In large cities with heavy traffic, the likelihood of an insured event increases, making a policy a rational protection tool.
